The selection, use, and normal maintenance of mining drilling tools

1. Selection of mining drill bits

Select suitable hard alloy mining bits based on the properties of the rock. Generally speaking, for rocks with high hardness, alloy bits with relatively lower hardness are selected, while for rocks with higher hardness, alloy bits with relatively higher hardness are selected. For extremely hard rocks, if the power of the rock drill is high, a three blade or cross shaped drill head can be selected. In this case, for the convenience of unloading the drill, the tapered hole of the drill head can be selected as 11 ° or 12 °. For rocks with good overall hardness, in order to improve work efficiency and reduce costs, ball toothed drill bits can be selected.

2. Selection of drill rods

The drill rod should ensure a sufficient mating surface with the drill head. In general, the depth of the drill rod inserted into the drill head should be ≥ 25mm, and the contact surface should be as large as possible, with a minimum of 60%. Therefore, it is advisable to choose drill rods with tapered tips for mechanical cutting processing. The drill rod used in conjunction with the drill head should be visually straight, and the impact end face of the drill tail should be flat.

Both the drill head and the drill rod should ensure that the water hole is unobstructed.

3. Using

When using the drill head and drill rod, the first thing to check is whether the tail of the drill rod is flat, whether the cone tip and the cone hole match the requirements, whether the cutting edge of the drill head is damaged, whether the water hole is unobstructed, and whether the wind pressure and water pressure are sufficient. It is strictly prohibited for the drill head to collide with the alloy between the drill heads. When starting to drill holes, it is important to be gentle with a light wind, which means that the wind pressure should be lowered first and the drilling should be stable before gradually adjusting the wind pressure to normal. When returning the drill bit, it should be turned back as much as possible to avoid forceful tapping and shaking, so as not to damage the drill bit or rod and cause early scrapping.
