How to use a rock drill correctly

Preparation before startup

1. The new rock drill is coated with highly viscous anti rust oil inside and must be disassembled and cleaned before use. When reassembling, lubricating oil should be applied to the surface of each moving component. After installation, connect the rock drill to the compressed air pipeline, turn on the air and check if its operation is normal.

2. Inject lubricating oil into the automatic oiler according to the instructions. The container for lubricating oil should be clean, covered, and prevent rock powder and dirt from entering the oiler.

3. Regularly check the wind and water pressure at the workplace. Excessive wind pressure will accelerate the damage of mechanical parts, while too low pressure will reduce the efficiency of rock drilling. If the water pressure is too high, water will enter the interior of the machine, damaging lubrication, reducing the efficiency of the rock drill and rusting mechanical parts; If it is too low, the flushing effect will be poor (but you don't have to worry about the water pressure being higher than the wind pressure for the S82 rock drill newly developed by Atlas Copco (Shenyang) Construction Mine).

4. Check whether the use of drill rods and drill bits meets the quality requirements. Unqualified drill rods and drill bits are prohibited from use.

5. When the air duct is connected to the rock drill, it should be deflated to blow out impurities inside the duct. When connecting the water pipe, it is necessary to flush the impurities at the joint, and the air duct and water pipe must be tightened to prevent injury to people.

6. Insert the end of the drill bit into the head of the rock drill, and turn the drill bit clockwise with force. If it cannot rotate, it indicates that there is a jamming phenomenon in the machine, which should be dealt with in a timely manner.

7. Tighten all connecting bolts, open the air and check the operation of the thruster. Only when it runs normally can it start working.

Precautions during work

1. When opening the hole, it should be rotated slowly until the drilling depth of the hole reaches 10-15mm, and then gradually switch to full operation. During the rock drilling process, the drill rod should be designed according to the hole position to move forward in a straight line and be located at the center of the hole.

2. Reasonable adjustment of shaft thrust should be made during rock drilling. The axial thrust is too small, causing the machine to bounce back and increase vibration, resulting in a decrease in rock drilling efficiency; Excessive axial thrust causes the drill bit to tighten the bottom of the eye, causing the machine to operate under overload and leading to premature wear of parts, resulting in a slower drilling speed.

3. When the rock drill is stuck, the axial thrust should be reduced to gradually return to normal. If ineffective, the machine should be shut down immediately. First, use a wrench to slowly rotate the drill rod, and then open the air pressure to slowly rotate the drill rod. It is prohibited to handle it by tapping the drill rod.

4. Regularly observe the powder discharge situation. When the powder discharge is normal, the mud slowly flows out through the hole opening; On the contrary, it is necessary to forcefully blow the hole. If it is still ineffective, the water hole and tail status of the drill should be checked, and the water needle should be checked again to replace the damaged parts.




5. Pay attention to the storage and oil output of the injected oil, and adjust the amount of oil injected. When operating without oil, it can cause premature wear of parts. When there is too much lubricating oil, it can cause contamination of the working surface.

6. During operation, pay attention to the sound of the machine, observe its operation, and promptly handle any problems found.

7. Pay attention to the working condition of the drill bit and replace it promptly in case of any abnormalities.

8. Pay attention to the rock condition, avoid perforation along bedding planes, joints, and cracks, prohibit drilling residual holes, and observe at any time for the risk of roof collapse or slope deviation.

9. To effectively utilize the opening function. During the drilling process, an important step is drilling, which is completed by reducing the impact pressure and adjusting the pushing pressure. The pushing pressure should be as small as possible to facilitate drilling on highly inclined rock surfaces, while also avoiding bending of the drill pipe.
